You have transformed my attitude toward fog with these images. I associate fog with "pea soup" and "can't see the curves in the road"--fog is tightly allied with danger in my mind. But these images are gorgeous and mysterious. Thanks for your great eye, camera work, and willingless to share what you see.

Hey, thanks a lot. I wonder if this is the difference between midwest fog and northwest fog? It rarely gets so thick as to be dangerous, as least in the Snohomish River valley.

That must be the case. We certainly didn't have any towering mountains rising through the mist in SW Iowa!

Hi Tom! I checked out your interactive map (pretty cool) and was wondering if you had checked out the unmaintained trails in ebey island, right off Homeacres road. I’ve been wanting to take my dogs to explore, but didn’t want to interfere with hunting season. I emailed fish and wildlife because I was concerned about getting onto private property, but I see some gravel trails from the trestle, that are on public land, that I’ve been wanting to check out!

Hey, I’m glad you liked it. When we first started walking the dike road trail (accessible from the trailhead to the northeast from where Homeacres Rd crosses the Slough, but you probably know this), it was blocked off, so you couldn’t get to Homeacres Rd. But then sometime within the last six months it opened, and we’ve gone further … just not as far as the road. My sense is that you can walk out there now, and I’d say what the hell, try it. We’ve walked out there all during hunting season, no problem. What I really want to do is get over and walk on the other side (north/west) side of the Slough, but I’ve been too prone to obey the signs telling me not to. Let me know if you try it.
