I'm not quite there yet. Wordle still challenges me to some degree. I have adopted the rotating the first word and dropping in a random one for fun occasionally.
Fascinating. This is the best explanation I've heard for why people do Wordle and post their scores.
I've never played it. I'm always a little suspicious of anything that's hugely popular. I'm also not a consistent enough person to do something daily unless it's actually on my "daily routine" list, and yes, I actually keep one. I do puzzles on chess.com. It'll let me do 6 or 7 a day before it cuts me off, but I'm very inconsistent with it. I might do it every day for a week and then none for two weeks.
Great post, but golly, that's hardcore, Tom! I would get unreasonably upset with Wordle whenever I broke my streak, and then couldn't handle it any more. I tried 'Foodle', which is a food-related variation - but their choice of the word 'CROCS' one day (because some chefs sometimes wear Crocs shoes in the kitchen, according to their daily post-game word-choice explanation, for heavens' sake) annoyed me so much that I ditched it!
I'm a big fan of crosswords, and actually I think (like my writing!) I prefer my puzzles on paper rather than on screen. That said, I hugely enjoy playing 'Upwords' with my family on the app - I don't necessarily ring or e-mail my parents every day, but we always play a few turns of Upwords each every morning and evening. That's one of my non-negotiable daily activities!
When Wordle Became Bordle, We Turned to Quordle
Very well articulated Tom - if I wasn't already part of the Quordle group I'd definitely sign up! ;)
